PROXIMA CENTAURI & ALPHA CENTAURI


·         Proxima Centauri is a red dwarf star that is part of the alpha Centauri star system

·         The nearest star to the sun at a distance of 4.24 light years

·         Located in the constellation of Centaurus

·         Categorized as a flare star

·         Undergoes random increases in luminosity because of magnetic activity

·         It only has about an eighth of the Sun’s mass

·         It has a very low luminosity

·         Alpha Centauri A & B is about 4.3 light year away from the earth.
